Rio Stone field guide

Delivery, pickup, and payload checklist

Prepare the quantity, vehicle, route, unloading area, people, and timing before material is loaded or dispatched.

A useful material request starts with a clear measurement, a defined use, and honest expectations about what still needs confirmation.

Freeze the material request

Before travel or dispatch, confirm product and variant, current lot when appearance matters, sale unit, quantity, packaging, price state, pickup or delivery, and requested date. Ask whether loading equipment, pallet dimensions, moisture, mixed materials, or minimums change the plan. Keep the quote reference and contact number available; online catalog status is not a loading authorization.

Verify a pickup vehicle

Use the actual vehicle and trailer labels and manuals. Available payload is reduced by people, fuel as accounted by the manufacturer, tools, accessories, tongue weight, and other cargo. Check gross, axle, tire, wheel, hitch, and trailer ratings plus load distribution and securement. Rio can discuss the material load, but the driver remains responsible for safe and lawful operation.

Survey the delivery route

Measure the narrowest gate and route, turn radius, slope, cross-slope, surface condition, bridge or culvert limits, overhead wires and branches, roof eaves, parked vehicles, pedestrians, pets, and underground features. Identify a firm, level, lawful unloading or pile location that does not block drains, utilities, emergency access, or public travel. Share current photographs and changes before dispatch.

Control the handoff

Provide an adult contact, working phone, site instructions, and a safe place for the driver to stop if conditions differ. Keep people clear of moving equipment and suspended or shifting loads. Inspect product and ticket before placement when practical, preserve lot separation, photograph any issue, and stop rather than improvise if access, ground, weather, or overhead clearance is unsafe.

Before requesting pricing

  • Confirm exact product, unit, quantity, packaging, approximate load weight, and whether separate materials can remain separated.
  • Check payload and towing labels, occupants, tools, axles, tires, hitch, securement, and legal requirements before pickup.
  • For delivery, document gate width, turns, grade, surface, overhead hazards, utilities, traffic, spotter, and acceptable placement point.

Frequently asked questions

Can Rio tell me my truck's safe payload?

Rio can provide material information, but the vehicle's labels, configuration, occupants, equipment, ratings, condition, and law determine safe payload.

Does delivery include placement or spreading?

Do not assume it does. Confirm vehicle type, unloading method, permitted placement, access, and any additional scope in the quote.

What if the route changes after scheduling?

Tell Rio before dispatch. New gates, trenches, parked equipment, soft ground, wires, weather, or traffic can require rescheduling or another delivery method.
